Pola Pengasuhan Gajah sumatera Di Conservation Response Unit (CRU) DAS Peusangan, Kabupaten Bener Meriah

Abstrak. Gajah Sumatera (Elephas maximus sumatranus) adalah jenis subspesies gajah yang ada di Indonesia yang penyebarannya berada di wilayah Sumatera. Populasi Gajah Sumatera di Indonesia terdapat 2.400-2.800 individu, dimana 25% atau sekitar 500-530 tersebar di wilayah Aceh. Habitat yang terganggu menyebabkan populasi gajah menurun sekitar 35% sejak tahun 1992. Gajah sumatera merupakan salah satu satwa yang dilindungi Undang-Undang No. 5 Tahun 1990 dan berada dalam Red list Book IUCN karena populasinya yang terancam punah. Oleh karena itu, penelitian tentang pola pengasuhan gajah sumatera studi kasus di Conservation Response Unit DAS Peusangan Kabupaten Bener Meriah dianggap perlu dilakukan untuk melihat tingkat kesejahteraan gajah sumatera yang berada di CRU DAS Peusangan. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini Observasi langsung, wawancara terstruktur, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan dan penilaian menunjukan bahwa pola pengasuhan gajah sumatera di Conservation Response Unit DAS Peusangan masih kurang sesuai untuk kesejahteraan gajah sebagaimana yang harus didapatkan. Complaints Pattern of Sumatran Elephant (Studi Case in Conservation Response Unit DAS Peusangan, Bener Meriah DistrictAbstract. Based on the observations and assessments of the show that the pattern of nurturing a Sumatra elephant in the Peusangan DAS Unit Conservation Response is still not appropriate for elephant welfare as it must be obtained.
