Efect of Suplementation of Extracted Jaloh Leaf (Salix tetrasperma Roxb) in Drinking Water to the Weights and Percentages of Broiler Chicken Carcasses

Pengaruh Suplementasi Ekstrak DaunÃÂ JalohÃÂ diÃÂ dalam Air MinumÃÂ terhadap ÃÂ Berat dan Persentase Karkas Ayam BroilerÃÂ Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efek pemberian ekstrak jaloh (Salix tetrasperma Roxb) dalam minum terhadap berat dan persentase karkas ayam broiler. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Lapangan Peternakan (LLP), Program Studi Perternakan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Syiah Kuala.ÃÂ Penelitian ini menggunakan 80 ekor anak ayam broiler (DOC) strain Lohmann, produksi PT. Japfa, Medan. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan AcakÃÂ KelompokÃÂ dengan subsampel, ÃÂ terdiri dari 4 perlakuan, 4 kelompok, ÃÂ dan 2 subsampel. ÃÂ Tiap kelompok merupakan unit percobaan yang masing-masing terdiri dari lima ekor ayam. ÃÂ ÃÂ Perlakuan yang ÃÂ dicobakan adalah pemberian ekstrak daun jalohÃÂ melalui air minum dengan dosis 0, 500, 1000, dan 1.500 mg/l air. ÃÂ Parameter yang diamati meliputi ÃÂ bobot dan persentase karkas dan karkas, ÃÂ ÃÂ gibletÃÂ (hati, ÃÂ rempela, jantung), ÃÂ ÃÂ dan lemak abdomen ayam broiler.ÃÂ Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan Analysis of VarianceÃÂ (ANOVA),ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ jika didapatkan hasil yang berbeda nyata ÃÂ maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (Steel dan Torrie, 1993).ÃÂ ÃÂ Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa meskipun secara statistik tidak ÃÂ nyata (P0,05), ÃÂ pemberian ekstrak daun jalohÃÂ melalui air minum cenderung meningkatkan persentase karkas ayam broiler dengan levelÃÂ pemberian terbaikÃÂ 1000 mg/l. ÃÂ Pemberian ekstrak daun jalohÃÂ sampai level 1500 ml/l ÃÂ dalam air minum tidak mempengaruhi secara nyata organ-organ giblet (hati, rempela, dan jantung) dan lemak abdomenÃÂ ayam broiler.ÃÂ Efect ÃÂ of ÃÂ Suplementation of ÃÂ Extracted JalohÃÂ Leaf ÃÂ (Salix tetrasperma Roxb)ÃÂ in Drinking Water to the Weights and Percentages of BroilerÃÂ Chicken CarcassesÃÂ Abstract. The aim of present study was to determine effect of adding of jalohÃÂ (Salix tetrasperma Roxb)ÃÂ leave extraction in drinking water to the weights and percentages of ÃÂ broiler chicken carcasses. ÃÂ ÃÂ The study was conducted in Field Laboratory, ÃÂ Livestock Department, ÃÂ Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University. ÃÂ As many as 80 chicks, strain Lohmann, produced by PT. Japfa, Medan were used in this study. ÃÂ The study was performed into randomized block design with subsamples, consisted of ÃÂ 4 treatments, ÃÂ ÃÂ 4 blocks, and 2 subsamples. ÃÂ ÃÂ Each block was an experimental unit consisted of ÃÂ 5 chicks. ÃÂ The treatments were adding ÃÂ of ÃÂ jalohÃÂ ÃÂ leave extraction in drinking water with the level of ÃÂ 0, ÃÂ 500, 1000, and 1500 mg/l. ÃÂ ÃÂ Parameters observed were ÃÂ the weights and percentages of ÃÂ whole carcass and retail cuts-up, ÃÂ giblets, and abdominal fat of ÃÂ broilers. ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ Results of study showed that adding of ÃÂ jalohÃÂ ÃÂ leave extraction in drinking tended to increase weights of ÃÂ whole carcasses and retail cuts-up of ÃÂ broilers with the best level was 1000 mg/l, ÃÂ ÃÂ however statistically no ÃÂ significant diferences were detected (P0.05). ÃÂ ÃÂ There was no ÃÂ indication ÃÂ adding ÃÂ of ÃÂ jalohÃÂ ÃÂ leave extraction in drinking water caused adverse effect of ÃÂ giblets nor abdominal fat of ÃÂ broiler chickens.Keywords: broiler, ÃÂ carcass, giblets, abdominal fat, jalohÃÂ
