Enterococcus faecalis is the Gram-positive anaerobic facultative bacteria which takes the main role as causative agent of root canal treatment failure. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is one of herbal plants which contains antibacterial constituents such as alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid, and triterpenoid. This study was aimed to determine the effect of 6,25%, 12,5%, 25%,50%,75%, and 100% cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) extract was made by maceration method using 96% ethanol as the solvent. The determination of the effect of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) extract to inhibit the growth of E. faecalis was confirmed byÃÂàdisk diffusion method on MHA (Mueller Hinton Agar) media. The data collected from this study was analyzed by one way ANOVA. The result was p0,05 which was showing that there were effects from the test group to E. faecalis growth and continued by Least Significant Difference (LSD) test which showed that tetracycline as positive control group had significant difference to each Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) extracts. There were two groups from the test group which had a significant difference, there was on 6,25% to 100% extract. The result of this study showed that cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) extract was resistant from CLSI (Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute) classification so that couldnâ≢t change tetracycline potention as root canal irrigant.ÃÂàKeywords : Enterococcus faecalis, Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), Disk diffusion method,ÃÂàResistant.
