Synthesis of <i>rac</i>- and <i>meso</i>-1,2-bis(<i>tert</i>-butylchlorophosphino)-1,2-dicarba-<i>closo</i>-dodecaborane(12) and Transition-Metal Complexes Thereof

The P-Cl functionalised meso- and rac-carbaboranylphosphines 1,2-((PBuCl)-Cl-t)(2)C-2 B10H10 (1) and 1,2-(PPhCl)(2)C-2 B10H10 (2) were synthesised and the diastereoisomers separated. Noble and coinage metal complexes thereof were prepared. The carbaboranylphosphines and most complexes thereof were characterised spectroscopically (H-1 P-31, B-11, C-13 NMR, IR, MS), and in some cases also by X-ray crystallography.
